Supplication/ Dua/ Prayer When Throwing Stones at Jamaraat - More Details

One of the important rituals of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, is the stoning of the devil at the Jamaraat. During this ritual, pilgrims throw stones at three pillars that represent Satan’s temptation of Prophet Abraham.

Before throwing each stone, pilgrims recite a supplication or dua, seeking Allah’s forgiveness and protection from Satan’s evil influence. The dua is as follows:

“Bismillah, Allahu Akbar. Allahumma min al-shaytan al-rajim. Allahumma inni as’aluka min khayri ma sa’alaka minhu nabiyyuka Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Wa a’udhu bika min sharri ma a’udhu bihi minhu nabiyyuka Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Allahumma ihdini wa sadeeni wa jburni wa ‘afini wa rzuqni.”

Translation: “In the name of Allah, Allah is the greatest. O Allah, I seek from You the good that Your Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought from You, and I seek refuge in You from the evil that Your Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought refuge in You from. O Allah, guide me, make my path easy, grant me strength, protect me, and provide for me.”

This dua reminds pilgrims of the importance of seeking Allah’s guidance and protection in all aspects of their lives, especially during the Hajj pilgrimage. It also emphasizes the significance of following the example of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in seeking Allah’s blessings and protection.
