Sahih Muslim 5595
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، قَالَ عَمْرٌو حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَقُولُ وُلِدَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنَّا غُلاَمٌ فَسَمَّاهُ الْقَاسِمَ فَقُلْنَا لاَ نَكْنِيكَ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ وَلاَ نُنْعِمُكَ عَيْنًا . فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ " أَسْمِ ابْنَكَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ " .
Translation
Rapporté par Jabir b. 'Abdullah : Un enfant est né chez l’un d’entre nous, et il l’a appelé Qasim. Nous avons dit : « Nous ne te laisserons pas donner ce prénom à ton enfant et ainsi prendre la kunya Abu’l-Qasim et te réjouir. » Cet homme est allé voir le Messager d’Allah ﷺ et lui a raconté cela. Il a alors dit : « Appelle ton fils ‘Abd al-Rahman. »
