Goodness in Both Worlds (1)

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Transliteration

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wafil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina 'adhaban-nar

Translation

Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Notes

This is one of the most comprehensive duas that encompasses all good in this life and the next. The Prophet (SAW) used to recite this dua frequently.

Our Lord, we have believed in what You revealed and have followed the messenger, so register us among the witnesses [to truth].

Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses.

Surah Al-Maidah 5:83

رَبُّنَا رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَن نَّدۡعُوَاْ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَـٰهً۬ا‌ لَّقَدۡ قُلۡنَآ إِذً۬ا شَطَطً۬آ

Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. Never will we invoke besides Him any deity. We would have certainly spoken, then an excessive transgression.

Surah Al-Kahf 18:14

رَّبَّنَا عَلَيۡكَ تَوَكَّلۡنَا وَإِلَيۡكَ أَنَبۡنَا وَإِلَيۡكَ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ

Our Lord, upon You we have relied, and to You we have returned, and to You is the destination.

Surah Al-Mumtahanah 60:4

رَبَّنَا وَءَاتِنَا مَا وَعَدتَّنَا عَلَى رُسُلِكَ وَلَا تُخْزِنَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ

Our Lord, grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in [Your] promise.

Surah Al-Imran 3:194

رَبَّنَآ أَتۡمِمۡ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَآ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٞ

Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. Indeed, You are over all things competent.

Surah At-Tahrim 66:8

Goodness in Both Worlds (4)

رَبَّنَا وَأَدۡخِلۡهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتِ عَدۡنٍ ٱلَّتِي وَعَدتَّهُمۡ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنۡ ءَابَآئِهِمۡ وَأَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡ وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمۡۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ وَقِهِمُ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ

Our Lord, and admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. And protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds].

Surah Ghafir 40:8-9

Gratitude & Mercy (1)

أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ ٱلضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرۡحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ

Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

Surah Al-Anbiya 21:83
